Hosting for the Holidays

Throwing a holiday party? We’ve got your back! Here are some tips to help you prepare as you work diligently to clean, rearrange, and update your home before guests arrive!

Tip #1: Tackle the big projects first

Our first tip is to tackle the biggest projects first. Focus on the larger areas of your home so as not to overwhelm yourself with making every room in the house look perfect. Just focus on  getting your dining room and living room set up first – these gathering areas are the places your guests will spend the most time.

Once you’re feeling better about these areas, you can move on to some of the smaller high-traffic areas in your home, like your entryway, bathroom, and kitchen!

Tip #2:  Make sure you have enough seating

One of the major challenges when it comes to preparing for company is making sure you have enough room for everyone to sit and relax.

In your living room, a roomy sectional, ottoman, or chair are great choices for providing extra seating for guests, and your dining room can gain a little extra seating by inserting your table leaf or adding a bench to one or both sides.

If you don’t have a lot of space to work with, you may need to get creative with your seating; position a bench against the wall that can fit a couple of guests, get a sofa table & stools you can put behind the couch, or bring out a few chairs that you can use for the event and then put away after guests have gone.

Tip #3: Update or dress up your furniture

The holidays are a great time to update your furniture to WOW your guests, but if you’re not ready for that than you can always dress up what you already have!

For example, if you’d like to make your dining space look a little better for the party, you can accessorize your dining table with a table runner, festive centerpiece, or chair cushions to give it a whole new look.

In your living room, you can put a sofa cover over your sofa, sectional, or chair to give the space a whole new look!

Tip #4: Create designated spaces for entertaining

It gives a space a more festive feel when you have areas strictly set up for entertaining at your holiday party.

For example, if you have a buffet, sofa table, or island counter, you can clean it off and set up a little bar, snack, or desert station that will give people a little something to enjoy before or after dinner!

And if you’re doing a bar station – you can feature tasty ingredients for making a signature cocktail!

We hope you found these tips helpful, and if you need any assistance getting your home ready for the holidays, we are here to help! It’s a great time to update your home to enjoy during and after the holidays!
