What size sofa do you need?

Unfortunately, the size sofa we want isn’t always the practical choice when it comes to the space we have available. You don’t want to fall in love with a sectional only to find out that it doesn’t fit in your living room!
This is why it is so important to know the dimensions of your space so that you can select a sofa that will both fit into your space and leave you with enough room to be comfortable in your space.
Before you head to the store, make sure you measure your space, and based off of your measurements decide how big or small you want your sofa to be. This will help to narrow your search right away!
You also need to think about how large the sofa needs to be to accommodate the amount of people who will be using it. If you are someone who has a large family, or you entertain often, you may want to consider getting a sectional or a sofa and loveseat set so that you have ample seating.
If you are retired, the kids have left the nest, and you don’t entertain often, a smaller sofa would work just fine and would likely be a better choice for you.
What cover do you need?

When selecting a cover for your sofa, you should consider your lifestyle.
If you have children and/or pets, or you entertain often, you will want to purchase a sofa that has a durable cover – whether that be leather or a durable polyester. There are many fabrics available today, such as krypton fabric, that are made specifically to protect against stains and wear.
Color plays a large role as well, as lighter colors will more easily stain and show wear. Darker colors will work better for high traffic areas.
If your sofa will be used more for aesthetic purposes, you probably don’t need to worry as much about the durability of your cover, and you can focus more on the style you would like for your sofa.
You should also consider what cover would feel most comfortable to the touch. If you prefer a softer, warmer feel, then a fabric sofa may be the right choice for you. If you prefer a cooler, smooth feel, then leather may be the better option.
What features would make you most comfortable?

What do you not like about your old sofa? What do you want in a new sofa? Are there specific features or design elements that you would like to have in your new sofa that would offer you enhanced comfort?
For example, if you were not a huge fan of your old sofa because you couldn’t lay back in it, you should definitely add “recline” or “power recline” to the list of requirements needed for your next sofa.
Some of the upgraded features you might consider for your new sofa could be power recline, blown fiber back cushions, heat and/or message, or maybe a center console with drink holders and charging ports. Knowing what type of features you want will help to streamline the decision-making process when you start your search.
The size, cover, and features of your new sofa will greatly impact how well it fits in your home. We recommend doing the research beforehand, analyzing what you really want in a new sofa, and then consulting the experts for a little extra advice!
