Fall Design Trends 2018

Design styles and trends consistently change with the seasons. As the weather changes and we find ourselves entering fall, we gear up for new design projects that reflect the season. This year we are seeing fall trends that reflect comfort and warmth, simplicity, and refinement.

If you’re someone who loves seeing what’s new in interior design, here are some of the top fall trends for 2018!

Curved Furniture

Taken from Forbes

Whether they have rolled arms or their overall configuration is rounded, curvy sofas are in! They are pleasing to look at and offer an inviting, classic feel. If the actual sofa itself is curved, it also allows those who are seated on it to more easily engage in conversation, as everyone is already oriented to face each other.

Arches, in general, are appearing more frequently in both interior design and architecture. Don’t be afraid to embrace the curves!

Organic Earth Tones

Earth tones are colors that are drawn from a palette of browns, tans, warm grays, and greens. These tones are perfect for fall because they soften and ground the room to create a very serene, calm, inviting environment that makes you want to curl up and read a good book.

Color is a very powerful tool when it comes to creating a mood, and earthy tones do an excellent job of making us feel at ease because of their simplicity and peaceful energy.

Nordic style

The Nordic style offers an understated look that makes a big impact. It’s effortlessly stylish, featuring modern elements that reflect Scandinavian style – minimalistic, balanced, and functional. The difference between Nordic style and other minimalist styles is the level of comfort. Many minimalistic styles come off feeling a little cold, whereas Nordic spaces are perceived as more warm and inviting. Comforting accents and soft colors are the key to creating an inviting fall atmosphere with this trending design style.

To get the look, keep your furnishings and room layout simple, but layer textures to give the room depth – and incorporate a gentle, muted color palette (such as lavender, sage, and blush pink) to soften the room.

Globally Inspired Patterns

This trend is a celebration of cultures from around the world. The look welcomes a fusion of decorative prints, rich tones, and rugged textures – a reflection of an authentic, nomadic style. Some examples of design elements you might see with this trend are hand-dyed textiles, hand-thrown pottery, and tassels, pom poms, and macrame detailing on fabrics.
