Here at Wenz we understand that the play on colors is a vital key to creating an appealing atmosphere. More specifically, our in-house designer, Mike Arendt, is one that strongly encourages the proper balance of tones and colors throughout a room to help evoke emotions.
Mike Arendt is an educated and experienced designer that graduated from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelor’s in Art and Design. When asked why he chose to become a designer, he said, “I wanted to continue to be creative in my professional life, while simultaneously being able to connect with others and provide them with my innovative expertise.”
So, why is it important to choose colors carefully? Because naturally, humans’ emotions are evoked by colors. For example; a bright red color will appear to be intense and more exciting, versus a pastel blue color that will feel more relaxed and calm. Colors should be chosen according to what the room will specifically be used for.
More importantly, it should be known that having too much of one color can degrade a room’s potential. In order to fully provoke the feeling associated with the color, it will need to ‘pop out’. Arendt suggests that you should keep your walls neutral and accent them with your preferred color choice. Or, you could do the opposite and make the walls colored, but keep the accents neutral. By doing this you are allowing an emotion to be relevant, but without creating an overwhelming atmosphere that is unbalanced.
